When 9-year-old Faris discovers that his beloved internet sensation snack, Funner Flakes, is in the Non-Muslim Section of the grocery store, he sneaks behind his grandfather and goes to great, slightly haram, lengths to get it.
The film moves between the realistic space of the supermarket and the surrealistic discovery of the 'club' by Faris. Both spaces required completely different lighting design.
In the supermarket, we used found lighting inside the supermarket, alongside artificial lights to create negative fill and backlighting for key moments. Inside the club, we used a wide range of colorful lights and devices to create a vibrant color palette and color depth. To recreate the club atmosphere, we used strobe lights, various types of cookies and light cutters, a fog machine, and mirror balls to create a sense of movement.
